Even though it is late October, it is the perfect time to pour a basement foundation.  The concrete cures slowly and evenly.  As long as the framing and roofing is done before a prolonged deep freeze, the inside work can be completed over the winter.

The brick was removed where the new addition will attach. The bricks will be reused on the first level of the new addition.

The concrete forms have a simulated brick pattern on the inside. This is a nice idea if you don’t want to finish off the basement walls.

By the time the garage is removed this week, the framing can begin for both the house and the garage at the same time.

Late fall remodeling does not disturb your summer barbeque plans.    No leaf raking either.

(More progress to follow in the coming weeks.)
