There’s nothing better than instant gratification!

Such was the case this week as we consulted in a beautiful home located in an upscale neighborhood.  The owners have purchased another home and are ready to list this one, but called us first.

The floor plan is open and spacious with many upgrades but it needed updating and color.  We decided on a two-day staging plan — rearranging and removing some pieces, then returning with the right pieces from our inventory.

Removing the valances and minimizing the impact of the pleated shades opens the room to the view outside.  The wall will be painted a soft gray-green.

Adding more substantial furniture and a colored area rug adds the right amount of weight to the space.  The contemporary counter height table and chairs brings an updated look.

Master bedroom before staging

The master bedroom needed attention as well.  It is spacious and bright but lacked color impact.  The adjacent bathroom had green accents that had no relationship to this room.

We found a framed print elsewhere in the home and used it as a color starting point.  The valances and bed linens were removed.

Master bedroom staged

Now the monocromatic green comforter set ties in the master bath color.  Accent pillows coordinate with the print, as well as an occasional chair opposite the bed.

The furniture is traditional but the room now has an updated feel.

More to come on the changes in this home.  With the investment of a few hours of professional home staging and the application of color, this home will outshine its competition.
