When this home was purchased three years ago the private, treed backyard was a selling feature.  But the deck definitely wasn’t.  The seller had recently painted it gray — the house is taupe.

A pergola  provided shade but was covered with painted lattice.  The lattice was in poor shape and was dated.  Time for some updating.

The fences on either side of the patio were dismantled.  The lattice pergola was removed and replaced by cedar strips for shade.  All the the wood that had been gray has now been stained tan to harmonize with the siding color.

Touches of red are used throughout the space to harmonize with the new shutter and door color.  With a little bit of work and a lot of stain, this space — once an eyesore — is now an oasis.  A perfect spot for summer gatherings with friends and family.
