Often times, a home-seller’s budget just doesn’t stretch far enough.  Some updating was done in this home, but the sellers weren’t sure if the next homeowners might want to replace the carpeting with hardwood floors or re-carpet.

The challenge is to down-play the emerald green carpeting by focusing the eye upward toward the furniture and accessories.

So, instead of selecting furniture that would complement the carpet, I chose furniture that would blend with the carpet. That meant NOT selecting cream-colored or orange-colored items.

Indeed the wallpaper “smacks you in the face” when you stand at the bedroom doorway. There is no better way to update this room than to remove the wallpaper and dark curtains.  The dark furniture will need to be lightened up with pillows, accessories and artwork.

The master bathroom should look more luxurious by adding in some colorful towels and artwork.

The country look of the 1980’s has given way to the millennial style of contemporary finishes.

The dining table should be showcased with a centerpiece and perhaps some table linens or place settings.  Moving the table underneath the overhead fan/light gives the area more importance.
