Joining your trade association is usually a very good idea. The trade association for home stagers is the “Real Estate Staging Association” or RESA. Even though I have been staging homes since 2008, I always learn something from attending the conventions.
Networking: Home stagers are generous people. Veteran stagers freely give advice to newbies and genuinely care how you and your business is doing. The vendors and sponsors answer questions and show you their new products.
Learning: There is a lot of new information about pricing, marketing, inventory, storage, and social media
Jeffrey Gitomer had a great presentation on selling, marketing, and kindness
Technology: There are new applications, hardware, and software for every aspect of a staging business
Audra Slinkey of Home Staging Resource presented social media marketing and emailing.
Fun: Since the convention is in Las Vegas, there is plenty to do either before or after the two-day convention.
Attending the convention allows me to keep informed about new techniques, social media, marketing, etc., but it is the generosity of fellow stagers that make the convention invaluable. I have already implemented some of the ideas gleaned, making my business more efficient and profitable. And that is a successful convention! Call Premiere Home Stagers at 608-345-9396.
