Living Room

Living Room

When listing your house for sale, it is wise to incorporate both masculine and feminine elements into each room.  When Premiere Home Stagers was asked for staging advice, it became apparent that adding some softness and color was needed.  One could tell that this living room was definitely more masculine.  How?  Two reasons:  1.  an abundance of leather; 2. there is no conversation grouping.  I turned the chairs to face the sofa and suggested a colorful area rug to anchor the grouping.

There are too many hard surfaces that need softening.  How to do this?….use large-scale pieces, fabrics, and textures.  For example, instead of the small pieces at the center of the table, use a large bowl of textured balls, a flower arrangement, or some colorful pottery.  I would also re-hang the two small pieces of wall art on a smaller wall.

This is a cozy family room, dedicated to TV watching, reading, and doing office work.  However, there are too many hard surfaces and small pieces.  I suggested paring down a bookshelf, placing larger-scale items within the bookshelf, and applying some colorful pillows to the sofa.  Add a decorative piece on the coffee table–perhaps a small basket to hold the TV remotes, or a small plant.

Because this bathroom can be viewed from the front door, it is important to not see the toilet or used bath towels.  Closing the door is one option. Another is to tidy up, hang fresh hand towels and put the bath towel on a hook behind the door.

Once the homeowner finishes the “to-do” list, it will be photographed and listed for sale.  This gorgeous house will not last long on the market.  Just a few tweaks is sometimes all it takes to connect with a buyer.  Call Premiere Home Stagers at 608-345-9396.
