This fabric was the inspiration for new window treatments in our client’s kitchen.  It pulled together cabinet color, wall color and furniture stain color.  The motif is contemporary and slightly whimsical — perfect for the new look of the room.

The next decision was what type of top treatment to create out of the fabric.  Something with clean and simple lines was in order so that the pattern would not be interrupted.  A soft cornice with a center pleat seemed the best choice.  It is mounted on a 1″ x 3″ board that rests on corner braces several inches above the window frame.

The window above the kitchen sink is fitted with a smaller version of the soft cornice.  The brick wall was the perfect spot for a colorful focal point piece.  The large picture is just the right scale and style.  Square placemats add a bit more pattern and coordinate with the wall color.  They also protect the new table.

The result is a cozy, casual dinette area.  What a perfect spot to survey the back yard over a morning cup of coffee.
