Delaney’s is a supper club on the west side of Madison, WI.  A number of years ago, Premiere Stagers was asked to refresh the restaurant with updated flooring, paint, lighting, and wall art.  We also procured some light Christmas decorating.  Fast forward some years later when we were asked to update the holiday decorating.  Of course we were happy to comply.

Some things to consider when decorating a restaurant is to not inhibit the enjoyment of dining for both the staff and the patrons.  One doesn’t want glitter getting on their clothes when brushed against an evergreen.  You also need to adhere to sanitary conditions and the ability to have free access to all the exits.  We chose the mantra, Less is More.”

Window Dressing

Each window in the bar area got a hanging wreath with a battery tea-light at the base for night-time glow.  The wreaths do not impede the ability to raise or lower the blinds.  They are attached to the window frame underneath the valance.

Each window (5) in the dining area got a custom branch wreath tied with a wide silver bow.

Christmas Trees

We chose two slim Christmas trees that were frosted and then trimmed with silver, gold, and bronze ornaments.  One fit in a corner of the bar and the other just inside the main entrance.

Notice you do not see any red or green decorations This is because  the restaurant’s main color scheme is burgundy, with lots of wood and brick that we wanted to enhance with neutral metallic colors, which we feel is timeless.

Wall Art

We did capitulate to having one red and green piece of wall art on the back wall because it was large enough and could be seen from the main entrance.  We made it stand out with an evergreen-ornamented swag. On the other back wall, we discussed having something unique and unexpected.  I think it turned out better than originally thought of.  See if you agree.

The McKenna Room

The McKenna Room is a private room  that one can rent for business or personal events.  Premiere Stagers chose the paint colors, the flooring, and the wall art.  The wall art is actually sound-deadening panels on both sides of the room that are aesthetically pleasing.

The galvanized metal sign will be replaced by a custom-made Delaney’s sign after the holidays.

Delaney’s Restaurant has a series of small rooms for more intimate business or personal dining.  We hung some winter canvas wall art for some understated interest.

A Wonderful Experience

We have always loved dining at Delaney’s, no matter the occasion.  There are a few weeks during the year when Madison has “Restaurant Week,” and Delaney’s is among the restaurants that offer a prix-fixe dinner menu with three courses during those weeks.  Whether you dine in or take out, it’s an opportunity to try some of the best local food.  Some restaurants will also offer a lunch menu for $20.  Hope to see you there!
